A Piece Of My Pie

Dear reader:

Before we go forward with this madness machine, I have a confession to make. When I started this blog four months ago I had no clue how people would receive my random-ness in this oversaturated blog world of ours (some of which are way more fabulous than mine). All I knew for sure is I wanted it to be my propeller to famosity and entertain the shit out of bored people everywhere along the way.
I understand this is quite the undertaking but I've been properly fueled by the energy reverbating from your comments/emails and there's no possible way I can turn my back on the quest for famosity now.

Red Means Go has become this little monster that's always in the back of my mind at all times and I'm no longer able to tame it (it has a brain within my brain, guys).

What I want to say in this tiny little cluster of a post is, there are times (like the past few days) where I'm simply unable to pull a funny or entertaining thought out of this slightly disturbed brain, because other issues are subconsciously weighing down on it and turning it to mush against its will (like the fact I'm still jobless among other things).

I guess I 'm sort of terrified that I won't always succeed at being funny or amusing and that you guys will reject the posts that are simple pictures of life in Miami or mundane day-to-day things I want to share with you.

I drew a pie chart of what I'm hoping the blog will be comprised of going forward, just so you have an idea.
Is this okay? I really really hope so. Just brief me on your thoughts on this because at the end of the day it's all that matters to me. Write your input in the comment section pretty please with vodka covered cherries on top.
I hope this made a little sense.

Love,
Annah

p.s. I have over thirty madness stories for upcoming posts and more where that came from, so don't fret. The blood supply is there, I just have to suck it out of my brain. Hmmm, yummy!

Stop being silly and just keep on writing. I know you have the material. So just do it woman!

As much as I enjoy your drawings, I also like posts with real photos. There's something to be said for allowing us a peek into your real life--it's fun! That sounds like I'm a creepy voyeur (which I guess I am, at least a little), but it's how I feel.

Write on!

:)

you look nice in your Bozo costume.

happens to us all, just relax and let the inner demon run it for you.

I must be hungry because I saw the clown picture as egg eyes and a bacon smile. True story!

I'm with Marlene. Keep writing. We'll take the good, we'll take the bad, we'll take 'em both and there you have.... Oh yes, I went there.... The Facts of Life!

Annah you are doing just great and you are certainly entertaining with awesome art work. It doesn't take much to impress this old guy so hang in there are keep on keeping on. It has been a rainy day here in NC but we sure needed every drop to help the poor farmers. Have a great rest of the weekend and thanks for your great posts.

Annah, you’ve certainly succeeded in entertaining the shit out of people until those that read your blog are no longer bored if they ever were. The proof is in the comments your readers post.

I HAVE A QUESTION: Is that little green 1% slice of your pie reserved for me because you adore me so much? :-)

Caitlin N said...

I'm easily amused. Just keep writing and posting. That's all I need :)

Scarlet said...

I started blogging about a month ago and it's always at the back of my mind too! Don't worry so much about entertaining your readers. Blogging is fun because you get to make it your own space, and that in itself is already very appealing to others :) Keep the posts coming!

Gina said...

You've got to be kidding if you think I, or anybody else would reject anything from you! lol (Sounds sort of weird. Am I right?)

You keep me totally not bored. Keep it up! haha.

Dearest Annah,

We all have those day where we are feeling a bit out of sorts -- and I totally get the part about having other things weighing you down. But not to worry, you always bring a smile and laughter to my day through your amazingly entertaining blog. You totally rock sista!!!

Your friend, The Ranter's Box

PS: I'm thinking the red bozo hair is maybe not the best look for you ;)

You blog how you want. How you are feeling comes through in your writing and not everybody can be up all the time. (unless you are on some serious medication) Good luck with the job hunting and if you are feeling a little blue anytime, I will send you a hug from across the world.

Candice said...

Annah! This is YOUR blog! If you keep worrying about writing what you think WE want, you'll go crazy! Just be you and post whatever comes to mind, we'll read it and enjoy it.

We (your readers) are already here. Besides, with the way your blog has grown in the last 4 months, I'd say you don't have anything to worry about! :)

Don't fret my pet. No one is "on" all the time and honestly, to see someone "off" (although you can't tell. It's a blog, we're not sitting in your bedroom with you seeing the exact mood behind the typing) is a good thing because it makes you more relatable. You're just having a little performance anxiety when no one's asking you to perform except yourself. We're all here for the ride and laughing out loud is a big bonus to following your blog but I don't think anyone expects it every time. Just keep on keepin' on and we'll keep cheering you on (hopefully into famosity :).

Oh I figured out how to make a button so I can do your kitten eating one if you want, just let me know. :)

Meh. Just keep in mind that it's all about having fun. You seem to be doing that, as I find myself anticipating your next post. You always seem to find the glint of funny in everything. Excellent work, and anytime the doubt monster starts lurking just remind yourself --

One cannot have faith without doubt,
Thus, it is better to have faith in oneself
And doubt in others. :)

Charles said...

I sometimes wonder about the not being funny thing too. But... I am not concerned... nor should you be. If you gotta get something else out, get it out. There is a reasonable amount of serious stuff on my blog, and there will be more to come, and anyone who doesn't like it can sodomize themselves with a retractable baton.

And vodka covered cherries? what about like... cherry flavored vodka or something...

or just vodka.

what brand.

Damnit... why did you say vodka? I'm a recovering addict you know?!?

I used to worry about audience reactions like this too. Ultimately, people just wanna read things they relate to. As long as you're not, I dunno, juggling dildos on a unicycle, you'll be alright.

Besides, you're one of the funniest writers I've seen around here, so I trust you can spin anything into a worthy blog.

Amber said...

My sweet Annah Banana (today is the day I catch up on all my blogs......no, I am not dead just INSANELY busy), there is NOTHING you could do that would make me think you are not funny as hell and make me leave.

I am like a kitty that you fed and named. Once you do that, I am your pet forever.

I kind of fell in love with your blog after spending about half an hour reading through past postings. Absolutely hilarious! Love the blogger tips too! :)

I promise to stick around and read it all, as long as you promise to never post a clown picture again. For real, that scares the shit out of me. I hate clowns. There's just something so wrong about them...

Anyway, you are funny and even when you try not to be, it's all good. Just keep posting and we'll keep reading. Cool?

DarrenK said...

Whether you are going for funny or not, you're writing style is fantastic and makes for a thoroughly entertaining and interesting read. Keep up the good work, and remember that so long as you remain yourself, your loyal followers will remain just that, loyal followers. :0)

Also--I though "A Piece of my Pie" was going to be way more vagina-related.

Dakotah said...

Oh, please! Don't feel obligated to only post Evil Ninja Vampire extravaganza adventures. We dig it all!

Catherine said...

You got 8 followers in a day! Yes, i counted, because i am cool like that. And by the way, I got 8 followers in 6 months. Go me.

Annah said...

Dakotah: After I hit post I realized that yes, a piece of my pie kind of sounds a little perverted. LMAO. So I guess I owe a perverted post coming soon.

These comments and feedback from you guys are way toooooooo awesome. Can't wait to keep writing and drawing and entertaining *puts the clown mask on*.

Clyde said...

Yes. Life can suck the fun out of many things. But at the end of the day, I think that all the fun sucking can be reversed by a *This Is What My Life Looks Like Post* because we can all relate. Well, at least I can. Keep Writing Annah!

Sher said...

Having people to relate to in the Fun sucking is great. I think that most of us are in places where we are expected to put a happy face on everything and slog through life. You really can only do that for so long. There has to be a place where you can say that things suck. Maybe find the funny. Maybe find some sympathy. But in the end, all we really need to know is that we are not alone.

I'm probably going to join you on the jobless front soon. Not by choice but by circumstance. I hope that neither circumstance lasts very long for either of us.

Chris said...

I'll read anything you put out. So don't worry.

Annah said...

Clyde: Such truth to your words. Thank you for that.

Sher: Good luck with the job situation. It's not easy out there. Enough to make a preacher curse, girl.

Chris: I love you for saying that. Virtual hug.

just keep posting, it's all good.

I just found you today on Blogs of Note. Thank you for making me laugh out loud. And thank you for putting it out there that you can't always find something entertaining to talk about. It will come. Now....for the whoring part.....
Check out my newbie blog that isn't nearly as interesting as yours. I only have 2 followers (don't you feel sorry for me?) www.slushygirl.blogspot.com

Here's a couple things I do to keep stuff coming on the blog:
1. I always ALWAYS have a mini notebook with me so I can write stuff down for later.
2. I usually have several draft posts saved and can post one if I hit a dry spell.
3. When I am feeling bloggy-I'll write several posts and then schedule them to post over the next week-also do this if I'll be traveling.
4. If I really can't think of shit-I'll catch up on visiting and commenting on blogs of people who have left me comments-that often helps get juices flowing-a word will remind me of somehting.

shy_girl13 said...

I love this! You're an absolutely brill blogger! Don't worry! I know this doesn't really mean much, but I will keep reading even if you're posts get boring (which I really, really doubt.)

My blog is no where near as excellent as yours, (i've only recently began blogging) but it would really make my day if an experienced blogger such as yourself would stop by and give me some critisim!

Why don't you write about dinosaurs? Bitches love dinosaurs.

Annah said...

Who you calling a bitch? LMAO. I don't really like dinosaurs that much Stevie. Can we write about koalas? I really like them. Like, a lot. I hear they're secretly evil.

Regardless of what you post; as long as it looks like you're still having fun, we will too.

I completely agree that being able to show us your "real life" and still have the ability to fill us in occassionally with your random vampire ninjaness is awesome too! You gotta have normal as well as ninja.

Plz, you're Cuban, you don't like koala bears! I've seen movies before - you like piles of cocaine, baseball, and delicious sandwiches of ham, roasted pork, Swiss cheese mustard and pickles. You can play coy on this here blog, but we all know the truth, Annah.

Annah said...

I do TOO like koalas! Don't make me go over there and kick your ass! But you're right, I like roasted pork sandwiches a lot more than koalas. Especially with Coke on the side. Coke = Soda.
