Ah, duck face. I heard once that Olsen Twins started saying "prunes" when they got their pictures taken, thus perfecting the duck face. I think the idea is that it gives you sexy, Angelina Jolie-style full lips/high cheekbones, while simultaneously making you look like a total dill-hole. (I can neither confirm nor deny that I just went through my photo albums and shamelessly deleted every instance of self-duck face.)
